Boland captured the 2006 South African Rugby Union provincial sevens title on Sunday with a comprehensive 42-12 victory win over Border in the Cup final played at Florida Park in Ravensmead, Cape Town.
Earlier in the day, Eastern Province A lifted the women’s title after getting the better of Boland, winning 38-21 in an exciting final.
Western Province (WP) will be disappointed with their performances in the semifinal stage of the Cup competition for men.
WP A and B both booked their places in the last four of the competition after easy wins over the Golden Lions (36-12) and the Leopards (42-0) respectively.
However, both came unstuck in the semifinals, leaving the hosts empty-handed.
Border got the better of WP A (19-12), while eventual winners Boland proved far too strong for WP B (38-7).
Boland kept their best for last to register a rather one-sided Cup final triumph over Border. — Sapa
