SAA adds more flights on domestic routes

South African Airways (SAA) is to add extra flights to certain of its domestic routes over the holiday season due to huge demand from customers.

The airline experienced its busiest month in September, having carried a record total of 704 000 passengers on its domestic, regional and international flights.

From November 1 SAA will add two extra flights to its daily schedule between Johannesburg and East London on Fridays and Sundays, with the return flights on the same days.

“The demand from our customers for the coming holiday period has been enormous. We have listened to their needs and added these extra flights to our domestic schedule,” said Nomfanelo Magwentshu, SAA general manager business development.

Plans are in place to add a large number of flights to the route between Johannesburg and Cape Town and between Johannesburg and Durban.

The extra flights will be operated from mid-November until the beginning of January to ensure the huge demand during the holiday period is accommodated, SAA said.

The exact number of flights and the schedule for these will be finalised over the next few days. — I-Net Bridge
