Johnathan Thurston was on Tuesday reinstated as scrumhalf in the Australian team to face Britain in the Tri-Nations rugby league Test in Brisbane on Saturday.
Thurston ousted utility Ben Hornby from the number seven jersey following Australia’s upset 23-12 loss to the Lions in Melbourne on November 4.
Britain must beat or draw with the Australians this weekend to leapfrog New Zealand into the November 25 final against the Kangaroos.
Cameron Smith has been selected at hooker with Shaun Berrigan pushed to the interchange bench.
Former St Helens centre Jamie Lyon was replaced by Justin Hodges, while Melbourne prop Antonio Kaufusi will make his Test debut off the interchange bench after withdrawing from the last match with a hamstring injury.
Manly prop Brent Kite has been promoted to the starting front row with Mark O’Meley benched and Andrew Ryan is in the second row in place of the suspended Willie Mason.
Centre Mark Gasnier has been named in the starting side but is being treated for a hip injury. – Sapa-AFP
