Two men were arrested in northern KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday morning for the murder of a policeman.
Police spokesperson Captain Vusi Mbatha said the two were arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning at Mthunzini by members of the serious and violent crime unit following a tip-off.
They allegedly repeatedly stabbed Inspector Goodman Simelane (41) in his Ulundi home last week Saturday.
”It really was very brutal. He had stabbed wounds everywhere,” said Mbatha.
The two men, aged 26 and 18, were being detained in Ulundi and were expected to appear in the Mahlabathini Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Simelane’s cellphone was found in the possession of one of the arrested men. Mbatha expressed his thanks to the community.
”The arrests would not have been possible without the community’s help.” – Sapa
