Arts Alive workshops

Music

Steel-pan supremo Andy Narell will present two workshops on percussion and the art of drumming, on September 4 at the Mega Music Warehouse and September 6 at the Funda Centre, Soweto. Dutch jazz trumpeter Eric Vloeimans will hold a seminar on trumpets and jazz music on September 18 at the Mega Music Warehouse. Scandinavian jazz-fusion group Corpo will present two full-day jazz workshops, at the Gauteng Jazz Academy, Daveyton, and the Funda Centre on September 13 and 14 respectively. Workshops are free. Dance

Three of the international companies performing on the Arts Alive dance

programme will give development workshops. Rosas, the acclaimed Belgian

company, Ivory Coast’s Jeune Ballet d’Afrique Noir and Finnish Kenneth

Kvarnstrom and Company will offer young South African artists the

opportunity to participate in classes concerned with cutting-edge dance and

Poetry

Theatre

Green Ginger, the theatre group from Wales, will offer skills training workshops and the Danish theatre groups The Small Touring Theatre

Company and Teatregruppen Mariehonen will tour schools throughout the
