Netshisaulu murder case postponed

The bail application of the woman accused of murdering City Press editor Mathatha Tshedu’s son, Avhatakali Netshisaulu, was postponed on Friday in the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court.

Netshisaulu’s wife Mulalo Sivhidzo and her five co-accused will remain in custody until their next appearance on February 2.

At Friday’s appearance, Sivhidzo’s lawyer, Dolph Jonker, launched an application to get access to the docket.

He also raised objections to a form on the charge sheet not having been completed.

Jonker objected to this omission since the defence was required to prove exceptional circumstances existed for Sivhidzo to be granted bail.

”We do not even know on the charge sheet what she [Sivhidzo] must prove exceptional circumstances on,” he said.

State prosecutor Lebo Sibi objected to the application, citing various cases where, during the bail application stage, the defence ”was not entitled to look over the shoulder of the prosecution as the investigation runs its course”.
