Francis Adelaide Tambo will be laid to rest in Benoni on February 10, the African National Congress (ANC) announced on Friday.
At a press briefing at the plush Tambo home in Sandhurst, Johannesburg, ANC deputy secretary general Sankie Mthembi-Mahanyele said a week of prayer and memorial services in Cape Town and Johannesburg will precede the funeral next Saturday.
The service, described as an ANC funeral run and managed by the party, will befit Tambo, her son Dali told the media at the briefing.
”The point is she cared very deeply about the dignity accorded to someone who had passed on … When such a person goes then it must be done well and it will be,” he said.
