Ajax beat Celtic to top the log

A goal in each half allowed Ajax Cape Town to return to top spot in the Premier League fter beating Bloemfontein Celtic 2-0 at the Athlone stadium on Friday night.

Ajax playing with a strong South-Easter, attacked from the start, and in the ninth minute, Terror Fanteni broke through, but Shoaib Walters dived to a save.

Ajax threatened with crosses on several occasions, but Nathan Paulse could not find the target on several occasions.

In the 24th minute, Paulse gave Franklin Cale, a defence-splitting pass, but with only the goal keeper to beat, Cale shot straight at the goalkeeper.

Then four minutes later Walters brought off a brilliant save from another Cale scoring effort.

Ajax took the lead in the 30th min when Clayton Jagers scored his first goal for the club with a stunning shot.

During injury time before the interval, Patrick Malokase should have levelled the score for Celtic, but with a clear shot, kicked high over the bar.

Ajax made certain of the three points in the 88th minute when Vryick Moon centered from the right and Fanteni rose high to head it home. – Sapa
