Santos gain three points

A goal in each half gave Santos three valuable points when they beat Benoni United in a match played at the Athlone Stadium, Cape Town, on Friday.

Rain throughout the match resulted in both sides slipping and sliding on the field.

Santos were by far the leaders and easily stayed in the visitors’ half.

The home side almost scored with a corner headed on by Moosa Ongao, but the ball scraped the bar, defeating any chance of a goal.

Erwin Isaacs opened the score for Santos after clever play between him and Thando Mngomeni.

Benoni goalkeeper Noel Yobou brought on excellent saves in the second half. The second goal came from Koena Mathaopa.

Bernard Parker of United was sent for an early shower when he was showed a red card by referee Lwandile Mfiki. — Sapa
