Tourist lands in court after dropping trousers

A German tourist appeared in a Manila court Monday charged with “alarm and scandal and acts of lasciviousness” after he dropped his trousers and walked through an X-ray machine at Manila’s international airport.

Hans Jurgen Oskar von Naguschewski (66) was so annoyed when asked to walk through the machine for a second time that he dropped his trousers in front of startled security personnel and other passengers, police said.

Passengers are required to take their belts and shoes off when walking through the X-ray machines.

Von Naguschewski appeared in court briefly where the charges were read out. He did not enter a plea and bail was not set.

Instead of boarding his Emirates flight to Frankfurt on Friday, the retired technician was detained by police, who charged him with “alarm and scandal and acts of lasciviousness”, the head of airport police, Senior Superintendent Atillano Morada said.

“He must have been annoyed that he was asked to walk through the X-ray twice so he took off his pants,” airport security chief Angel Atutubo told local media.

Von Naguschewski will be detained by police until a trial date is set.

If convicted, he faces up to two years in jail. — AFP
