KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested a third person for the murder of historian David Rattray.
The man was arrested on Thursday night, said Senior Superintendent Phindile Radebe.
KwaZulu-Natal organised crime unit head Johan Booysen said the 24-year-old man was arrested in Nqutu near Dundee.
Booysen said the man was being questioned and was expected to appear in court on Monday. Police suspect he might be the man who pulled the trigger.
On February 5, Fethe Nkwanyana (23) was sentenced to 25 years in jail by Judge Jan Hugo in the Pietermaritzburg High Court after pleading guilty to the crime.
Hugo found circumstances that enabled him to impose a lesser sentence than the prescribed life in jail for murder, but nevertheless ordered that Nkwanyana serve 18 years before being considered for parole.
A second man, Simphiwe Ndlovu (25), appeared in the Dundee Magistrate’s Court on February 9 when the case was postponed until February 20 for a bail application. — Sapa
