Cellphone sex lands East London pupils in hot water

Three pupils at an East London school have been suspended after filming themselves performing sex acts in a classroom, the Dispatch Online reported on Tuesday.

The 36-second cellphone video was circulated among pupils at Greenpoint High School, as well as at other schools in the city.

Greenpoint principal Albert Brown confirmed on Monday that sexual acts took place during class time. ”Either the teacher was looking away or had left the classroom for a few minutes, but it was during class time and the act was committed inside a classroom,” he said.

The scandal is the latest of a string of school cellphone incidents in East London.

”We are deeply hurt by this as a school,” said Brown.

Three grade-10 pupils appear in the video clip — two boys and a 15-year-old girl wearing her Greenpoint school uniform. All three pupils can be clearly identified.

In the clip, the girl remains seated on her chair while the two boys fondle her under her desk. All three children can be heard giggling and chanting ”more”.

Brown said he was alerted two weeks ago to the incident by a pupil who received the video clip on his cellphone. ”I was shocked and I am still very shocked about what I saw.”

He said the three pupils have been temporarily suspended pending a final decision by the school’s governing body. — Sapa
