ANC’s Nissen repays Kebble money

African National Congress politician and businessman Chris Nissen said he had returned the R370 000 he was paid for consultancy work to the trustees of murdered mining magnate Brett Kebble’s estate, Independent Online reported on Tuesday.

The money was repaid last year.

Nissen said he was paid for consultancy work he did for Kebble’s JCI group, but as a director of JCI he believed he had a ”fiduciary duty” to repay it.

Earlier he welcomed the Scorpions’ investigation into Boschendal, which was bought from Anglo American Corporation by a consortium led by Nissen.

Nissen’s businesses were among several raided by the National Prosecuting Authority in the investigation of alleged corruption and fraud by Kebble.

Investigators are trying to recover money belonging to companies headed by Kebble, after millions of rands were paid to political parities and high-profile individuals. – Sapa
