Three arrested in Jo’burg for drug possession

Two Nigerians and a South African were arrested on Thursday after drugs were allegedly found in their possession, Ekurhuleni metro police said.

Inspector Mveli Nhlapho said Benoni residents told the police they had seen two people acting suspiciously in a silver-grey Toyota Corolla.

”There were people moving in and out of the car.”

Nhlapho said police officers stopped and searched the car and found about 30g of cocaine. A man and a woman were arrested after which the police paid a visit to their home.

At the house police officers found about R25 000 in cash and compressed dagga with an estimated value of about R22 000. A Nigerian man at the house was arrested on drug possession charges. He is also suspected of being an illegal immigrant.

Two of the suspects were taken to the Benoni police station while the other was taken to the Hillbrow police station. The trio were expected to appear in court in the near future. – Sapa
