Zuma: ‘People don’t fear God at all’

African National Congress deputy president Jacob Zuma called for people to go back to their values at an Easter Sunday service in the eastern Free State, South African Broadcasting Corporation news reported.

Speaking at the Tyrannus Apostolic Church in Qwaqwa, Zuma said black people were robbed of their values and dignity by the previous regime. Because of the country’s newly found freedom, people need to revive the values of morality, love and respect.

”People these days don’t fear God at all. To bring back our dignity or honesty, respect in everything, that’s what I understand by talking about values,” said Zuma.

Zuma has called on churches to make sure that the laws that govern are not in contradiction with the laws of God.

Zuma and the rest of the congregation gathered on Sunday morning at the local Mount Zion where they prayed and were given holy water to drink by the church’s founder, Apostle Simon Mokwena.

On Saturday, Zuma was invited to worship in Protea South in Soweto.

”He was invited by the church, the Utopian Holy Baptist in Zion Church, to come and worship … more than 5 000 people were gathered,” said Zuma’s private secretary, Nontokozo Luthuli. — Sapa
