Scorpion case postponed in Pretoria court

The fraud and corruption case of former Scorpions boss Geoffrey Ledwaba was postponed for the last time in the Pretoria Commercial Crimes Court on Tuesday.

The postponement was to allow Ledwaba to sort out his legal representation matters as he wanted the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to pay for his legal fees.

He has yet to get clarification from the NPA about the matter.

The case was postponed to April 18.

Ledwaba is the former head of operations of the Scorpions, known as the Directorate of Special Operations.

He resigned in 2005 after a criminal investigation was launched against him.

The investigation was requested by NPA head Vusi Pikoli after allegations of improper conduct with regards to certain transactions were levelled against Ledwaba.

He handed himself over to the police in October last year.

According to the charge sheet Ledwaba (41) unlawfully and intentionally stole more than half a million rand from the NPA.

He is out on R 100 000 bail. – Sapa
