Nudist king Beau Brummel is not welcome in the Northern Cape’s Afrikaner-only enclave of Orania, the Orania Beweging (Orania Movement) said on Friday.
”Brummel’s preference to walk around naked is his own business, but when he wants to draw Orania in on his plans to open a nudist farm for whites only he is on the wrong path,” said Orania Beweging spokesperson Eleanor Lombard.
She said in Orania the focus is not on skin colour but on mutual language, culture and historical background.
”Orania is a very tolerant community, which allows for individual differences, but racism would not be allowed,” she said.
Racism aside, she said the community had a big laugh when they heard about Brummel’s plans.
Earlier in the week he announced plans to open a nudist farm within three weeks near the town.
”Tell everyone that Orania is becoming nude. The nudist king is on his way and I’ll make sure that they become famous,” he was quoted as saying by Die Burger.
He would not disclose the farm’s exact location but said he would invite journalists to the opening, as long as they went in their birthday suits.
Brummel brushed off claims that he was being racist by opening a whites-only nudist colony.
