AB De Villiers, Andrew Hall, Jacques Kallis and Shaun Pollock have been nominated for the Standard Bank one-day international cricketer of the year award to be announced on Wednesday. The Proteas nominated Mark Boucher, Shaun Pollock and Ashwell Prince for the South African players’ player of the year award, while the fans’ vote went to AB De Villiers, Makhaya Ntini and Shaun Pollock.
The nominees for the premier award of the season, the Mutual & Federal SA cricketer of the year award, are Mark Boucher, Makhaya Ntini, Jacques Kallis, Shaun Pollock and Ashwell Prince.
Shaun Pollock achieves a clean sweep of nominations in each of the SA International categories.
The Mutual & Federal awards recognise the achievements of players at all levels of the game, from under-15 through to the national team and give recognition to the many men and women who work behind the scenes such as grounds men, scorers, umpires and franchise coaches.
In total, there are 28 awards covering both professional and amateur cricket including the coveted Mutual & Federal SA cricketer of the year.
Cricket South Africa’s CEO, Gerald Majola, said: ”The cricket awards are one of the most important events on Cricket South Africa’s calendar.
