The Health Department has described media reports suggesting that Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang has resumed some of her duties as ”inaccurate”.
”No decision has been taken thus far on when Minister Tshabalala-Msimang will resume her duties as the minister of health,” spokesperson Sibani Mngadi said on Tuesday.
Earlier, a radio station reported that Tshabalala-Msimang had returned to her office to resume some of her duties.
Mngadi said she was receiving regular briefings on the activities of the department in the office and at her home, both of which were in Pretoria.
Tshabalala-Msimang underwent a successful elective liver transplant on March 14. She was suffering from cirrhosis, or extensive scarring and damage to the liver, with auto-immune hepatitis.
She was discharged from Johannesburg Hospital last month. Doctors said she would only be able to return to work in August. Last year she was hospitalised for a lung ailment.
