Girlfriend of Tsotsi star launches court action

Award-winning Tsotsi actor Presley Chweneyagae’s ex-girlfriend has launched a court action against the star to force him to pay maintenance for their seven-month-old son, the early edition of the Saturday Star reported on Friday.

Nobelungu Somfula told the newspaper that Chweneyagae had not met his son and had only made two payments of R500.

In a court appearance last month, maintenance officers told Somfula that they were unable to track down Chweneyagae. The case was adjourned to June 26.

Chweneyagae’s relationship ended last year, soon after Somfula fell pregnant.

Meanwhile, the Tsotsi star appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on April 18 this year where he pleaded guilty to charges of fraud.

The 22-year-old star was arrested on January 23 for alleged fraud. He was accused of driving with a fake Ivorian driver’s licence doctored to look like an international driver’s licence.

Chweneyagae was given a fine of R5 000 or six months imprisonment. – Sapa
