Japanese teen delivers mom’s head to police

A 17-year-old brought a severed head to a police station on Tuesday and confessed to killing his mother, Japanese media reports said.

”It is in here,” the high-school student who was carrying a bag told officers in the central city of Aizuwakamatsu.

Inside, police found a woman’s head and later, at the boy’s apartment, found a headless body on a bed with a knife lying nearby.

The teen said he had killed his mother overnight by cutting off her head while she slept. It had been the woman’s 47th birthday.

The boy, who authorities said had undergone psychiatric treatment in the past, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Investigators said he answered their questions calmly.

”It would be good if terrorism and war were gone from this world. I didn’t care who I killed,” he was quoted as saying.

The boy and his younger brother lived in an apartment away from their parents during the school year, and his mother continually visited them there over the weekends, media reports said. — Sapa-dpa
