Mama Jackie’s case postponed

The case against Jackie Maarohanye and three other people accused of kidnapping and assaulting a Sowetan reporter and driver was postponed by the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

The case was postponed to May 16 because witnesses and lawyers were not present during the proceedings.

Maarohanye, dressed in a fawn suit, was flanked by her supporters who filled the court to capacity.

They wore T-shirts on which were written ”Sofasilahlane” [Till death do us

part] and ”We love Mama Jackie nine-nine”.

Outside the court photographers were threatened by Maarohanye’s supporters when they tried to take her pictures.

Some covered her face with their jackets while others were fighting with the photographers. — Sapa
