West Indies warmed up for next week’s third Test against England by hitting 534 for eight wickets to draw its three-day tour match against the Marylebone Cricket Club.
The tourists, who need to beat England to stand a chance of winning the four-test series, declared at Durham’s Racecourse Ground with Chris Gayle and Ravi Rampaul unable to bat due to injury.
After Runako Morton hit 201 on Saturday, West Indies wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin struck 131 to lead his team to a first-innings lead of 274.
West Indies, which trails 1-0 to England after the first two Tests, scored 110 runs off 30 overs in the morning session as it replied to the MCC’s 260.
Ramdin’s was the last wicket to fall when he edged Ruel Brathwaite to wicketkeeper Paul Dixey.
The MCC ended the day on 64-5, with Darren Sammy taking two wickets.
West Indies begins its attempt to rally from last week’s record loss to England in the second Test on Thursday at Old Trafford.
West Indies is winless in England after drawing the first Test, losing the second by an innings and 283 runs, and drawing two tour matches.
