Hundreds gather at Sexwale leadership speech

Hundreds of people crowded into the Great Hall at Wits University in Johannesburg on Thursday evening to hear businessman Tokyo Sexwale talk about leadership.

His address is part of the Wits public lecture series and is billed as ”Towards a common future: Public conversations on leadership with Tokyo Sexwale”.

All the tickets for the event were snapped up before it started and hundreds waited, some singing, for Sexwale to arrive.

Sexwale recently confirmed that he had been lobbied by African National Congress members to stand as party president at the party’s December conference.

He told Kaya FM he was ”not desperate” for the job and that he would consider standing if he was asked when nominations for the position open later.

Sexwale was the first premier of Gauteng. — Sapa
