A meeting between the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and the Premier Soccer League (PSL) has been postponed to Tuesday.
”It was postponed because people who are dealing with the matter are busy with other issues,” SABC spokesperson Kaiser Kganyago said on Monday.
He said the postponement was a joint agreement between the two parties.
PSL spokesperson Ntambi Ravele confirmed the postponement.
The SABC management and the PSL representatives were expected to meet on Monday in a bid to resolve the issue of broadcast rights over league matches.
Last month, the PSL announced that SuperSport had been awarded a R1-billion contract to broadcast PSL soccer matches for the next five years.
The move sparked a heated public debate as concerned parties expressed different views.
Trade unions condemned the decision, while the African National Congress Youth League did a U-turn, by joining the United Democratic movement in supporting the deal. — Sapa
