Veteran radio man in court on assault charges

Former Talk Radio 702 chief executive and veteran radio presenter Stan Katz appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on two charges of assaulting his former wife Philippa Sklaar.

The clerk of the court said Katz faced two charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. He was released on a warning to appear in court again on September 18. Three witnesses were also warned to appear at the next court hearing.

Sklaar, who flew in from Los Angeles for the court appearance, told the Star newspaper that the case had taken ”a very long time” to go to trial.

The newspaper reported that Katz had been accused of assaulting Sklaar in September 2000 and February 2001.

The couple divorced in June 2001 after two years of marriage. After the divorce, Sklaar moved to the United States. — Sapa
