SAA: ‘Inappropriate to serve alcohol on morning flights’

The prospects of having a little medicinal dram to settle pre-flight butterflies have narrowed with South African Airways’ decision to keep their on-flight bar closed until noon.

”Apart from the fact that we believe it is inappropriate to serve alcohol on morning flights, we are confident it will encourage more efficient service delivery and in turn enhance the customer’s experience and comfort,” said SAA spokesperson Robyn Chalmers.

”Further, to date there has been limited demand from customers for alcohol before 12 noon.”

Chalmers said the decision, applicable to business and economy flights, was in line with local and regional trends.
