KZN ‘sex scandal’ minister back in the office

Narend Singh, the former KwaZulu-Natal arts, culture and tourism minister who resigned amid a sex scandal, is back, representing his party in the National Assembly, the Daily News reported on Monday.

The afternoon daily reported that Singh was sworn in on Friday to serve on the finance, agriculture and land affairs portfolio committees.

Singh stepped down last March from his position as provincial minister after a DVD was pushed into KwaZulu-Natal residents’ post boxes, handed out at some taxi ranks and exchanged among pupils at some high schools.

The DVD reportedly showed Singh and Rosanne Narandas, a married socialite, kissing, fondling and drinking liquor before having sex at Durban’s Elangeni Hotel.

Denying that she had used a hidden spy camera to film the episode, Narandas instead claimed that she was framed.

An investigation into the incident began, but Singh was quoted by weekend newspapers saying that he had decided to drop the investigation.
