Good news as petrol price set to fall

The retail price of all grades of petrol will fall by 10 cents per litre from Wednesday September 1, the Department of Minerals and Energy announced on Friday.

This follows a 15 cents fall on August 1 and an eight cents decrease on July 4.

The latest changes bring the retail price of a litre of 95 octane unleaded petrol in Gauteng to 691 cents per litre (c/l) and to 667c/l at the coast.

In June the price of petrol hit an all-time high of 724c/l.

During the period under review, the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating Paraffin decreased.

The average rand/United States dollar exchange rate weakened when compared with the previous period. The average rand/US dollar exchange rate for the period July 27 2007 to August 2007 30 was 7,2356 compared with 6,9782 during the previous period, it was reported.

The wholesale price of diesel 0,05% sulphur will increase by 5c/l and that of 0,005% sulphur will also rise by 5c/l on the same date.

Both the wholesale price of illuminating paraffin and the single maximum national retail price of illuminating paraffin will remain unchanged. — I-Net Bridge
