Another teenager has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a King Edward VII high school pupil, Johannesburg police said on Wednesday.
Mfundo Ntshangase, a grade 11 pupil, was stabbed seven times at a party in Randburg on Sunday. He died in hospital while his friend, who was also stabbed, survived the incident.
Four pupils from Athlone Boys’ High school were arrested in connection with the crime on Tuesday morning. Police spokesperson Captain Cheryl Engelbrecht said a fifth suspect was arrested late on Tuesday.
”The suspect is 18 years old and is not from the same school as the others. We are hoping that this will lead to more arrests,” she said.
The five, aged between 16 and 18, will appear at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on charges of murder and attempted murder. — Sapa
