Several areas in Gauteng suffered power cuts on Thursday as gusting winds and heavy rainfall swept through the province, City Power said.
”There are no major outages, but houses and businesses have been affected,” said spokesperson Louise Pieterse.
Pieterse said the wet conditions had also affected low voltage sections.
The power cuts had spread from Roodepoort to Lenasia and they were all weather related, said Pieterse.
Charlottedale, Orange Grove, Orchards, Highlands North, Yeoville, Florida North and Florida Lake had been hit by power failures.
The South African Weather Service predicted that it would be cloudy in Johannesburg on Friday, with a 30% chance of showers. – Sapa
