Cocaine worth R50-million found at OR Tambo

Police seized cocaine valued at about R50-million at OR Tambo International Airport on Friday.

Spokesperson Captain Dennis Adriao said the drugs had been found on a plane from Brazil.

”No arrests have been made,” he said.

He said the bust on Friday brought the number of drug finds at the airport to four in the space of three weeks.

”On Sunday cocaine valued at R5-million was seized; before that Mandrax tablets valued at R5,8-million and dagga valued at R2 000 was seized”.

He said there appeared to be a syndicate smuggling drugs through the airport.

”We are in contact with Interpol to root out drug trafficking,’ Adriao said. – Sapa
