Two suspected house robbers were arrested in a North Riding complex in Randburg on Friday in possession of stolen goods worth millions of rands, Johannesburg police said.
The goods include diamonds and jewellery worth more than R3-million, said Superintendent Lungelo Dlamini.
The arrests followed a house robbery in Fourways.
”A 46-year-old woman was followed and held up at her home on Wednesday by three men driving a black Citi Golf,” Dlamini said.
The men pointed firearms at the woman and cleaned out her house. They made off with 20 diamonds, credit cards and a Mercedes-Benz, all of which have been recovered.
Other items recovered at the complex were jewellery worth more than R3-million, electrical appliances worth more than R800 000, police bulletproof vests and blue lights, a 9mm pistol with rounds of ammunition, R30 000 cash and two other suspected stolen vehicles.
Dlamini said the suspects were being questioned and will appear in court on Monday. Charges of theft, armed robbery and possession of illegal firearms were being formulated. — Sapa
