Ex-bouncer Beuthin back behind bars

Former bouncer Gary Beuthin was arrested in Rivonia road in Sandton on Tuesday morning, police said.

Spokesperson Superintendent Eugene Opperman said Beuthin was wanted for attempted murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, illegal pointing of a firearm and possession of a firearm.

It is alleged Beuthin and two accomplices — a man and a woman — assaulted a 43-year-old man in Wendywood last Friday, said Opperman.

”They assaulted the man with a baseball bat, took his watch and cash. They then kidnapped him and took him to Morningside where they continued to assault him,” he said.

Opperman said the man was admitted to hospital and had to undergo surgery on his legs and arms.

”Beuthin’s accomplices are advised to hand themselves over as soon as possible. I am sure they do not want to look over their shoulders all their lives. Police will be on their heels,” said Opperman.

Beuthin was jailed for 25 years in 1993 for kidnapping and assault.

He was released on parole in July after serving 15-years of his sentence. – Sapa
