Beuthin case postponed

A case of attempted murder and kidnapping against former bouncer Gary Beuthin and two others was on Thursday postponed in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.

Gary Beuthin, Melanie van Niekerk and Warren Sherkle appeared on charges of attempted murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, possession of a firearm and pointing of a firearm.

Their case was postponed to November 29 for a bail application.

It is alleged that the three assaulted a 43-year-old man in Wendywood last Friday.

They allegedly assaulted the man with a baseball bat and took his watch and cash.

The man was admitted to hospital and had to undergo surgery on his legs and arms.

Beuthin was jailed for 25 years in 1993 for kidnapping and assaulting his former girlfriend.

He was released on parole in July after serving 15 years of his sentence.

Beuthin and Van Niekerk’s lawyers were not present in court.

Only Sherkle’s lawyer was present.

Beuthin and Van Niekerk were remanded to Johannesburg prison while Sherkle was remanded to the Brixton police cells. — Sapa
