The Media magazine launches a brand-new website in January which is set to become the leading source of media news, debate and opinion.
‘TheMediaOnline will become the number one hub of information for our dynamic and fast-growing industry,” says Sandra Gordon, owner of Wag the Dog which publishes the monthly business-to-business magazine The Media.
Its newsletters, to be distributed at least three times a week, will replace eMedia, the electronic arm of The Media magazine. The new website will be edited by media journalist Liesl Pretorius who holds a Masters Degree in journalism cum laude.
The eMedia database of some 12,000 subscribers will be amalgamated into the new website, which has up to now been managed by the Mail & Guardian and mainly contained archived content of The Media magazine.
The new website will be interactive and contain daily news updates in the form of quality journalism.
‘We do not believe in slapping press releases onto a website. Our journalists will write their own well-researched and independent copy to offer our influential audience a value-added service,” says Gordon.
The website will still contain archived material from eMedia and The Media magazine, which celebrated its fifth anniversary in October. It will also carry a jobs section dedicated to the media industry.
It will have commentary from leading columnists, in-depth features, news on the latest appointments in the media industry and information on all the journalism awards.
The website, www.themediaonline.co.za, will go live in January.
