Risk of load shedding remains high, says Eskom

The risk for load shedding remains high on Friday, said Eskom.

”Eskom is currently not load shedding as it is able to meet the demand for electricity. However, the risk remains high for the rest of the day.”

Eskom said load shedding would be implemented at very short notice if unexpected problems arose.

The prognosis for the weekend was good because there was a lower demand for electricity.

”However, the prognosis for next week is one of a high risk of load shedding.”

Eskom said that in the coming weeks and months, South Africa would see the effects of having a low reserve margin, with a high risk of frequent load shedding.

Energy efficiency needed to become a way of life, the power provider said. — Sapa
