The Finance Ministry has invited all South Africans to send tips on how the country’s finances should be run to the annual “Tips for Trevor” campaign.
They should tell him what they would like to see included in the national budget.
“The campaign is run throughout the year and the tips received assist the minister in understanding public sentiment on government’s macro-economic policies,” a ministry statement said on Wednesday.
Finance Minister Trevor Manuel plainly takes some notice of what the public tells him since he often refers to these tips during his budget speech in Parliament.
The Treasury said that since the 2007 budget speech, the ministry has received more than 600
tips covering tax, macro-economics, social and light-hearted issues.
Tips can be sent before Manuel delivers the budget speech in Parliament on February 20. Email them to [email protected] or fax them to 012 315 5126. — I-Net Bridge
