The Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court heard on Monday that one of the six people accused of murdering and robbing Muldersdrift conservationist Frans Richter stood to inherit R1-million from him, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) reported.
Celiwe Mbokazi was Richter’s housekeeper and, according to the police, she was promised R1-million in his will.
Richter was shot dead on his Heia Safari Ranch, north of Krugersdorp, in November last year while he was delivering his staff’s salaries, the broadcaster reported.
Mbokazi and five men are accused of planning and executing the murder.
Mbokazi claims to be Richter’s customary wife.
”It came out in court today [Monday]. She was my father’s housekeeper and we as a family know nothing about the traditional marriage that apparently took place,” said Richter’s daughter, Gabby Burgmer.
The six accused’s bail application has been postponed to February 19, the SABC reported. — Sapa
