School under construction collapses in Uganda

A six-storey school under construction in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, collapsed on Wednesday, killing 15 workers, police said.

Police spokesperson Gabriel Tibayungwa said more than 30 workers were buried when the building, Saint Peter’s Secondary School on the outskirts of Kampala, collapsed.

”We rushed to the scene and started removing the dead bodies and the injured,” he said.

Fifteen people died, he said.

Eight seriously injured workers were rushed to the hospital. The others escaped with minor injuries. — Sapa-AP
