Tiger Brands has appointed Peter Matlare as its new CEO from April 1, the company announced on Tuesday.
”We believe he will bring a diverse set of skills and leadership abilities to Tiger Brands,” Tiger Brands’s non-executive chairperson Lex van Vught said in a statement.
Matlare succeeds Nick Dennis, who takes early retirement from February 19.
Matlare became Vodacom’s chief strategy and business development officer after leaving the South African Broadcasting Corporation, where he was group chief executive from 2001 to 2006.
He holds a BSc (Hons) in political science from the University of Plymouth and a master’s in South African Studies from the University of York.
”Peter impressed us with his insights and strong operational and management experience of large corporations,” said Van Vught.
”We as a board believe he will ably steer Tiger Brands into the future.”
Tiger Brands said its executive management team would manage the company until Matlare took office. — Sapa
