SuperSport continue rampant run

SuperSport United continued their rampant run in the Absa Premiership with a convincing 2-0 win over Platinum Stars at Olympia Park in Rustenburg on Sunday.

SuperSport have won five and drawn two of their seven games since the second round of fixtures got under way in February, and now trail log leaders Ajax Cape Town by a single point.

And the match-winner for SuperSport after a goalless, evenly contested opening period was second-half substitute Katlego Mashego, who scythed his way through the Stars defence to open the score in the 65th minute — and then completed a brace 12 minutes later from the penalty spot.

”I think I told the players a few home truths at the interval,” said SuperSport coach Gavin Hunt, ”and jolted them into action by telling them what a great chance they were wasting in our bid for the Premier League title.

”It seemed to do the trick,” added the SuperSport coach, ”and we looked a much livelier outfit in the second half. — Sapa
