Jo’burg bouncers appear in court

Four bouncers accused of kidnapping and assaulting two men appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, police said.

Spokesperson Captain Bhekizizwe Mavundla said two of the suspects were released because they could not be directly linked to the case.

Chris Nogwaba (25) and Nqobile Skhosana (24) appeared on charges of kidnapping and attempted murder and they remained in custody until their next appearance.

”The suspects allegedly kidnapped two men, aged 24 and 25, at the Little Roseneath nightclub in Hillbrow on Tuesday.

”They locked the victims in the boot of their car, drove them to Bertrams and severely assaulted them with baseball bats,” Mavundla said.

It appeared that the bouncers knew their victims but the motive for the assault was not known yet, he said.

He said the two injured men were taken to hospital after an ambulance was called by an unknown person. One was treated and discharged while the other was in a critical condition in hospital.

The hearing was postponed to April 22 for a formal bail application. — Sapa
