Bok coach finally puts pen to paper

Newly appointed Springbok coach Peter de Villiers finally signed his contract on Friday after weeks of refusing to sign over contractual disagreements.

”The agreement between De Villiers and SA Rugby was signed at our headquarters in Newlands earlier today [Friday],” said SA Rugby in a statement.

Andy Marinos, manager of national teams at SA Rugby, said both parties were pleased that the matter was now finalised. He added that SA Rugby was looking forward to a good and fruitful relationship with the coach.

De Villiers refused to sign his contract early last month after SA Rugby said its constitution required national teams to be selected by both the coach and the national selectors. This was followed by De Villiers’s refusal to accept a contract in which he would not have the final say on team selections. — Sapa
