Convicted rapist allegedly molests boy

A convicted rapist was arrested on Monday on suspicion of molesting a seven-year-old boy in KwaThema near Springs, Johannesburg police said.

”A young boy of about seven-years-old reported the matter to his parents this morning [Monday]. The parents then organised the community and went to the man’s house and arrested the 46-year-old suspect,” said police spokesperson Captain Johannes Ramphora.

It was then discovered that the man — who had been out of jail for three years after being convicted of rape — had allegedly molested four other boys.

”He was well known to the community and he was still under supervision with correctional services,” said Ramphora.

”He offered the boy a R5 coin not to tell anyone about the incident,” he said.

The man would appear in the KwaThema Magistrate’s court on Wednesday on five charges of molestation, police said. – Sapa
