Leopards overcome Thando Royal Zulu

Bottom-of-the-log Black Leopards beat fellow strugglers Thando Royal Zulu (TRZ) 3-2 in an Absa Premiership match played at Thohoyandou Stadium on Wednesday.

Leopards led 2-1 a half-time.

The home team, Leopards, began the game on the offensive and were rewarded when striker Robert Ngambi scored the opener early on.

Ngambi doubled his side’s lead just before half-time, but TRZ’s Nigerian international, Felix Obada, pulled back one almost immediately.

Referee Ace Ngcobo then gave TRZ’s coach Roger Palmgren and his assistant their marching orders from the bench after the two remonstrated with the official over Ngambi’s second goal.

Leopards’ prolific striker Myron Shongwe made it 3-1 late in the second half before the visitors made the scoreline more respectable when Tshepo Mashishi found the back of the net in the dying minutes.

Leopards have just six wins with four draws and 17 losses for a measly 22 points. TRZ have six wins, six draws and 14 losses for a total of 24 points. — Sapa
