Leopards, Arrows play to goalless draw

Black Leopards moved off the bottom of the Absa Premiership log after playing to a goalless draw with Lamontville Golden Arrows at Thohoyando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Leopards, however, are still relegation candidates along with Jomo Cosmos and Thanda Royal Zulu, and the teams have only two more games to try to avoid relegation.

The match started at a steady pace with both teams playing cautiously. In the second half, the football became more attacking as both sides looked for a breakthrough.

Both coaches, Shepherd Murape of Leopards and Manqoba Mnqithi of Arrows, beefed up their attacking department by introducing fresh legs up front and trying to penetrate the back lines, but found both goalkeepers on the alert throughout.

As the game progressed, it was frustrating to watch the strikers missing their targets or shooting straight towards the goalkeeper.

When the referee blew his final whistle, Arrows were pleased with their one point away from home, which strengthened their seventh position on the log. — Sapa
