The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) has launched a portal on higher education institutions across the globe to support students who need reliable and fresh information about studying abroad.
This portal offers online information about institutions sanctioned by competent authorities in participating countries.
It provides students, employers and other interested parties with access to authoritative and up-to-date information on the status of higher education institutions and quality assurance in these countries. Information includes lists of institutions, general information on the country’s higher education system and advice on opportunities for financial support.
Currently, information can be accessed on the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, Egypt, Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, United Kingdom and the United States. But the national lists of institutions are not exhaustive. In the next stage of the project, the number of countries covered will be expanded.
Students are encouraged to consult several sources before making decisions such as the choice of an institution, course of study or the status of qualifications. People who wish to have their qualifications recognised for work or further study are advised to consult the competent authorities of the country in which they are seeking to have their qualifications recognised.
