A Cape High Court judge will on Friday deliver his ruling on the Treatment Action Campaign’s (TAC) bid to shut down activities of vitamin entrepreneur Matthias Rath, the organisation said on Thursday.
Judge Dumisani Zondi reserved judgement in the application in March this year.
The TAC is seeking a court order forcing the government to act against what it says is Rath’s illegal distribution of multivitamins in black townships, and his claim that they reverse the course of Aids.
Rath has maintained he is not selling the products, merely donating them to the South African National Civic Organisation for use in a community health programme.
The TAC, which was joined in the application by the South African Medical Association, is also seeking a halt to what it says are Rath’s illegal clinical trials on recipients of the vitamins. — Sapa
