Deliberations over power utility Eskom’s proposed 53% tariff hike are ongoing, the National Energy Regulator of South Africa said on Friday.
Following the regulator’s subcommittee meeting, spokesperson Charles Hlebela said deliberations are continuing.
”The six-member subcommittee is still deliberating on the tariff application. They are still looking at policy issues,” said Hlebela.
The meeting followed public hearings last month.
The subcommittee has to take into account the more than 40 oral and 300 written submissions it received on the issue.
Hlebela said the committee will hold another meeting to discuss outstanding issues before a final decision on the proposed hike is made on Wednesday. — Sapa
